Extended Hours

Normal opening hours in General Practice are defined contractually as 8.00 am to 6.30 pm, excluding weekends and bank holidays. This is when you can expect to book and receive routine General Practice care including routine and urgent appointments.

Out of Hours is defined as all times after 6.30 pm and before 8.00 am on weekdays, over weekends and during bank holidays.

Extended Hours is a hybrid of the two designed to increase access to routine care are convenient times for registered patients. You can pre-book access to routine General Practice services, normally only available during normal hours, during some of the out of hours period.

Using the Knowsley CCG extended hours service our registered patients can now also book routine appointments through our receptionists with a GP locally as below:

Monday to Friday    between 18:30 and 20:00
Bank Holidays         between 08:00 and 20:00
Saturday                  between 10:00 and 20:00
Sundays                  between 10:00 and 20:00

Also, during normal hours should we be fully booked we may be able to offer you an alternative appointment with the extended hours service during normal hours.

The appointment will be at one of the alternative settings listed below:

The Benefit for You

It is a simple appointment booking process, over the phone or in person.

You can have a consultation at a time that is convenient to you.

You should experience a high quality consultation because although the extended access GP is not your GP the GP will have full access to your GP medical record.

List Closure

Our ever increasing workload and reliance on locums whilst we try to recruit permanent doctors has led us to close our list to all new registrations for a few months.
